MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women’s hockey freshman Emily Clark has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Rookie of the Week after a four-point performance last weekend against Minnesota Duluth, the conference announced Tuesday.

It marks the second-straight week the Badgers have had a newcomer earn the league’s rookie honor, as freshman Annie Pankowski was named WCHA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 30 after tallying four points in UW’s sweep at Lindenwood.

Clark, a native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, missed UW’s opening series at Lindenwood as she attended Hockey Canada’s National Fall Festival with four of her Badgers teammates.

She made her first collegiate game count last Friday, scoring UW’s first two goals, including a short-handed game-winner in the third period, to help the Badgers beat Minnesota Duluth, 4-1. She also assisted on UW’s final goal, an empty netter, to put the game out of reach.

In Saturday’s 6-2 triumph over the Bulldogs, Clark tallied an assist to help No. 2 Wisconsin sweep No. 10 Minnesota Duluth for only the third time in Duluth.

Clark and the Badgers open their home slate at LaBahn Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. against Ohio State.
