For those that follow the recruiting trail, Wisconsin’s lack of emphasis on in-state recruiting was a sore spot in the previous regime. One of the first things that new head coach Paul Chryst wanted to do upon getting his dream job was continue where this program left off before he took off for Pitt.
The Badger coaching staff hasn’t been afraid to self-identify recruits they want from in-state and go after them, even if they aren’t the biggest names out there. Over the weekend Wisconsin held its second one-day camp and a number of under the radar in-state talents were on hand.
Perhaps the biggest name to emerge two weekends ago was Amherst (Wis.) defensive end Tyler Biadasz. The 6-3, 275 pound lineman wasn’t one of the most highly touted guys to come in to that weekend, but was one of the only ones to receive an offer after it.
Biadasz received his verbal offer from UW late in the week and didn’t take long to pounce on it.

In fact, it took just about 48 hours for him to commit to the Badgers. Biadasz is an unranked prospect according to 247Sports, and had previous offers from a host of FCS schools before the Badgers offered this past weekend.
Those offers came from Western Illinois, Illinois State, Southern Illinois, and South Dakota State. Fellow Big Ten programs Iowa and Minnesota were expressing interest in him, but the Badgers were the first to offer out of the FBS schools in play and Biadasz took them up on the offer.
After committing, Biadasz called the Badgers his dream school and a dream situation to be in.
What did the Badgers staff see in Biadasz that others haven’t so far? His size and length are ideal to help Wisconsin’s 3-4 defense work the way it needs to, especially as they see him moving inside to nose tackle. Getting more athletic there can help Aranda and the defense be even more versatile going forward.
This past season Biadasz was part of one of the most successful teams in the state of Wisconsin, as his Amherst team went all the way to the Division 5 state title game and ended the season 13-1 overall.
Biadasz recorded 77 tackles, had 10 tackles for loss , 5.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. That kind of motor and production inside could be very interesting to the Badgers in the future.
With the sixth commit to the 2016 class, the Badgers sit at No. 59 in the national rankings, moving down six spots over the weekend and before this commitment.
