Badgers get 2nd WR commitment of 2016 class

The Wisconsin Badgers continue to need consistent help at the wide receiver position, and after pulling an early commitment from long snapper/wide receiver Jacob Ceaser earlier this summer the heat turned up on the actual wide receiver position as July and August rolled around.

UW got its first priority at the position, in the form of four-star athlete A.J. Taylor in early August. Since then, the Badgers have shuffled their board at the wide receiver position as they hone in on realistic targets in the hopes of adding at least two more players to the class.

With September now on the calendar, the Badgers have their first true commitment at wide receiver, as three-star athlete Kendric Pryor, out of Homwood (Ill.) Flossmoor, announced his commitment early on Thursday morning, according to our recruiting partners at Badger247.

Pryor comes to the Badgers as the No. 219-ranked wide receiver in the 2016 class and the No. 40-ranked player in the state of Illinois. However, a watch of his tape says he is criminally underrated.

His ranking largely suffers from the fact that up to this point in time he has been seen as a pure athlete recruit, with other offers from the likes of Iowa, UConn, and Iowa State all on the defensive side of the ball.

In fact, Pryor was a defensive back recruit for most of the 2016 recruiting cycle for Wisconsin too, but he recently made it known that he would rather be playing wide receiver.

Wisconsin jumped on that news and switched its offer to the wide receiver position. The 6-1, 175-pound athlete apparently impressed with his tape enough at wide receiver and the Badgers apparently wanted him bad enough that a switch came relatively quickly out of Wisconsin’s coaching staff.

Pryor is commitment No. 18 for the Badgers in the 2016 recruiting cycle and the first real wide receiver as well.

The Badgers are the No. 32-ranked class nationally and continue to stay at the No. 7 position in the Big Ten rankings following this commitment.
