With a small class quickly filling up in the 2017 recruiting cycle, things may be moving fast for the Wisconsin Badgers. It also didn’t take long for a visitor to the Badgers’ spring game to become a verbal commitment either, as Bolingbrook (Ill.) defensive end Izayah Green-May gave his verbal pledge.
Our recruiting partners at Badger247 learned of his commitment shortly after the completion of the spring game.

Green-May won’t be a defensive end for the Badgers though, as they see the 6-6, 205-pounder as a great fit at outside linebacker. He is ranked as the No. 37 weak-side defensive end and the No. 11 player in the state of Illinois by the 247Sports composite ranking.
His list of offers was certainly impressive, with Green-May choosing the Badgers over offers from the likes of Michigan State, Cincinnati, Illinois, Mississippi State, Minnesota, Syracuse, Virginia, and Indiana.
What stands out most isn’t just the fact that he is 6-6, it is that he is just 205 pounds and that means the coaching staff and strength and conditioning staff has a chance to really mold him in to whatever they need him for.
Put on 25-30 pounds and he’s a beast of a linebacker, get him up to 270 and there could be a chance for some really interesting stuff at defensive end as well.
Either way, Green-May comes to the Badgers as one of the players with the highest ceilings in this class.
With this commitment, the Badgers now have nine verbal pledges already for the 2017 recruiting class. There may not be more than a handful of spots left in what has to be a small class to help start the process of evening out the recruiting classes.
UW also moves up to the No. 16 spot nationally after sitting at No. 20 coming in to the weekend, while staying put at the No. 5 spot in the Big Ten rankings for 2017.
