Badgers make it 3-for-3 on weekend commits

The Badgers waited awhile between commit 19 and its next one, but it appears the wait was worth it. Wisconsin hosted three uncommitted prospects this weekend and by Monday afternoon all three of them were verbal commitments and future Badgers.

Wisconsin’s third commit may be the most intriguing of the weekend, as UW got a verbal pledge from 3-star prospect Elu Aydon, according to our recruiting partners at Badger247. He became the second defensive tackle to commit to the Badgers in less than 12 hours and the 23rd member of the 2015 recruiting class for the Badgers.

Aydon had to make a purposeful trip to Madison, Wis. as the native of American Samoa had to travel nearly 6,500 miles to get from home to his new home for the next four years.

So, how does a kid from that far away end up a Badger? Having a coaching staff as supportive as UW’s certainly helps the situation, and it was one of the big selling points in getting Aydon to the University of Wisconsin.

“It’s going to be something new, but I’ll be just fine,” Aydon told Badger247. “Coach Gary Andersen also knows it’s a big transition for me, but he’ll help me along the way. The whole coaching staff is willing to help me adjust.”

Another huge selling point was getting to meet the team and see the family atmosphere around the program. The city of Madison also appeared to be a huge selling point to Aydon.

“Meeting the coaches, the players, I made a good bond with them,” he said. “Just the environment itself, the city of Madison is great and very supportive of their football team. Everything about Wisconsin is amazing.”

Aydon is the No. 52-ranked defensive tackle, the No. 1-ranked player out of American Samoa and the No. 840-ranked player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Despite the remote location there is video of Aydon in action and it is clear he’s a big, but athletic player that could fit well in UW’s 3-4 system with some seasoning upon arriving in Madison.
