Badgers Send Seniors Out Victorious

#15 Wisconsin (23-8, 12-6 Big Ten) pulled out the sweep of Illinois (17-14, 6-12 Big Ten) with the 70-56 victory at the Kohl Center Sunday. Wisconsin has earned the #4 seed in the Big Ten tournament and will play the winner of the #5 and #12 seed Friday afternoon.

Seniors Jordan Taylor and Rob Wilson said their goodbyes to the Wisconsin faithful with a great performance. Taylor finished with 16 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds while  going 8-10 at the free throw line. Wilson had 8 points off the bench including 2 steals and a rebound. As usual, Bo Ryan pulled the two out of the game early to get their final recognition from the crowd. Bo Ryan improved to 11-0 on senior day with the win. Ryan also tied Bud Foster for the most wins in program history with 265.

If you weren’t in attendance at the Kohl Center here is the Senior Day tribute to Taylor and Wilson:

Wisconsin played a great defensive game, especially on Illiinois center Meyers Leonard, who didn’t score a field goal until late in the 2nd half. Leonard finished with just 8 points. The Badgers held Illinois to 39.6% shooting from the field and 23.5% from downtown. The Illini had just 3 assists the whole game.

Brandon Paul shined for the Illini scoring 22 points and grabbing 6 rebounds in the losing effort.

The Badgers had the lead from start to finish in one of it’s best all-around games in conference play.  Wisconsin did a lot of things right in this one. The Badgers shot 44.7% from the field and 36.8% from three point land. They fought for every loose ball and showed great hustle. Play like this will be something they’ll need if they want to make a splash in the B1G and NCAA tournaments.

The Badgers will look to keep it rolling in the B1G tournament. Make sure to follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook for all of our coverage! On Wisconsin!
