Two game road trips are a necessary evil in college soccer and they are difficult to say the least. Many a season and many an NCAA tournament hope has been dashed in the past.
However, a trip to No. 13 Michigan and Michigan State this weekend did no such thing for the No. 18 Badgers.
Instead, it could've helped its confidence going forward and the Badgers looked like a team ready for any challenges coming its way.
On Friday the Badgers held the No. 13 Wolverines to a scoreless draw. It was the first draw of the season for the Wolverines who moved to 7-1-1 on the season, while the Badgers moved to 6-1-2 (1-0-1) themselves.
Then on Sunday the Badgers went into East Lansing and took down the Spartans 2-0 on a pair of goals from Kelly McNicoll, who upped her total to six goals and seven assists on the season.
She is currently 4th in the conference in points this season, while her backstop, goalkeeper Genevieve Richard, recorded her second-straight shutout and third overall on the season.
Richard has a 0.98 goals against average this season, putting her 9th amongst all Big Ten goalkeepers regardless of games played.
Wisconsin came out of the weekend standing at 7-1-2 (2-0-1) and in 3rd place in the conference standings with 7 points.
After this past weekend weekend on the road the Badgers return home to face a huge weekend with games against reigning Big Ten champions, Penn State (Oct. 4), and Ohio State (Oct. 6). A winning weekend at home would vault the Badgers right into the top of the standings.
