The Wisconsin Badgers came in to the 2014-15 season as the No. 2-ranked team in the country, and it didn’t take long for the team to prove it deserved that ranking, taking out Lindenwood with a 5-1 victory on the road.

Wisconsin didn’t waste time proving it would be a contender for national honors, scoring three goals in the first 12 minutes and never looking back.

The star of the night was senior forward Katy Josephs, who scored a pair of goals for UW and helped keep the Badgers away from any danger against the Lady Lions. She also happened to assist on the final goal of the night as well.

Wisconsin literally wasted no tine in putting the puck in the net to start the season. It took just 1:06 in to the first period for the Badgers to score, as Karley Sylvester opened UW’s account for the year. She was assisted on the goal by Sydney McKibbon.

Just over eight minutes later, the Badgers put themselves up 2-0 thanks to Ericka Sowchuck’s first goal of the season. Two minutes later it was 3-0 Wisconsin thanks to Josephs’ first goal of the night, as she netted it at the 11:45 mark of the 1st period.

Lindenwood tried to fight back, scoring five minutes later to make it 3-1. However, the Lady Lions just didn’t have enough the rest of the way.

Wisconsin outshot Lindenwood 54-10 on the night and stayed on the offensive end for the majority of the game.

Goalkeeper Megan Miller had just nine saves on the night to earn her first ever win as a goaltender at Wisconsin.

Wisconsin will face off with Lindenwood tomorrow at 3pm CT, looking to sweep the season series once again.
