During a week when Boston was for sure tested, Andrew Bailey and Mike Napoli were selected as AL co-players of the week. The Red Sox not only helped the state and nation heal in the aftermath of the bombings on Marathon Monday, but they also were had an amazing week on the field.
The Sox went 5-2 during the last week led by Napoli at the plate and Bailey on the mound. Bailey went 1-0 with 3 saves during 5 appearances. Bailey stepped right into the closing role following the Sox closer, Joel Hanrahan, going on the DL. Napoli hit .345 with five doubles, a triple, a HR and 10 RBIs during the seven games.
