Last night Harvard’s Ivy League walls were invaded by the Ball Up Street Ball Team. Ball Up travels the country to take on each cities’ best players. Their travels and exploits are documented by a film crew for the Fox Sports Net reality series.
The team is an all star cast of street ball legends; the Professor, AO, Air UP There, and Sik Wit It (of AND1 Fame). Brandon Bass acted as the celebrity coach of the Boston Team for last night’s game at Levietes Pavilion. The night was full of high energy dunks and dribble moves.
I spoke with Ball Up coach Tracy Murray (of NBA fame) prior to the game and he informed me that his team was riddled with injuries. Most notably, the Professor did not play. Mr. Afrika, Springs, and the Air Up There rocked the house with some electrifying dunks. I swear Springs has a 50″ vertical. Overall, the night was jam packed with great street ball. Ultimately the Boston team was no match for the underpowered Ball Up ballers.
One thing is clear from the event – Ball Up really knows how to throw a party. They gave away tons of free promotional items and fans were treated to a post game autograph session with the players. After the game I met with Bass in the locker room. He answered questions about everything from his feeling of Courtney Lee to his passion for Hip Hop. This was an amazing night of basketball action for Boston. The Boston episode of the Ball Up tv show will be on this summer check the listings here or visit www.ballup.com.
