Not long after the Blues made it publicly known that they were not re-signing Barret Jackman, the veteran defenseman spoke with Jeremy Rutherford about his future. As you might have imagined, Jackman was extremely respectful and spoke highly of the Blues.
Like many Blues fans, Jackman knew the team’s decision was coming.
Jackman: "I think I saw it coming. You look at our depth chart, and we've got four top-end d-men. (1/2)

Jackman cont'd: "They really like the way Lindbohm has played and Bortuzzo has earned a spot, too. I knew I'd be on the outside looking in."

Jackman believes he still has a lot to offer in the NHL and though he’s disappointed, he appreciates the Blues for their honesty.
Jackman: "I still feel like I have a lot to give. I wish it was with the Blues, but it is a business. (1/2)

"Some things don't work out but I'm definitely very pleased with the Blues for everything they've given me & for being honest with me" (2/2)

Jackman: "I don't fault them for this. It's probably the same move I would have made. But you look forward, not back."

If free agency doesn’t go as planned, would Jackman consider a small offer from the Blues?
Jackman and the Blues did agree that IF free agency doesn't work out for either side, there is a SMALL chance they could talk again in July.

That scenario is almost guaranteed to not happen, but it shows that the Blues and Jackman are parting on good terms.
