The Red Sox jumped to a 5-0 lead over the Tribe in second before things started to go south. Lester gave up three runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth to give the Indians the lead. Adrian Belte was the hero for a few minutes after putting the Sox back on top with a two-run tater in the top of the ninth.
Overworked Daniel Bard came in to close out the game because Papelbon is still on the bereavement list. Things did not go well as Bard walked the lead-off batter and then quickly loaded the bases. He K’d Hafner looking and then got Peralta to pop-up. He could get the last out however and Branyan blooped one just out of Pedroia’s reach to bring in the tying and winning runs.
