This series between BC and the Miami Hurricanes is the determining factor of who is going into the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska but last night, BC dropped a 12-7 defeat against the Miami Hurricanes as the “U” took Game 1 in a what is expected to be a very tight series.
Miami standout catcher Zach Collins, who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, helped the Hurricanes cost as he drove in 3 runs with a three run blast to help rout the Eagles along with Johnny Ruiz, who had two homers to go along with 5 RBI’s.
BC pitcher Justin Dunn (4-2), who was selected 19th overall by the New York Mets in this years draft, struck out 6 batters but gave up 5 runs and was taken out in the 6th inning.
The best of three series looks to be Miami’s to run away with but BC needs to win this in order to keep surviving in the series.
If BC makes the College World Series, it will be the first time the Eagles get in since 1967.
