After breaking a horrible streak against the ACC, Boston College football has plans for Louisville this Saturday in a match up that includes potential front runner for the Heisman QB Lamar Jackson.
Jackson is the ultimate dual threat quarterback, and going against the rugged Boston College defense, all that could potentially change. Only giving up 14 points to a solid team in NC State, Boston College knows the struggles on the offensive end (scoring 21 points) and it starts with Kentucky native quarterback Patrick Towles. Allowing the 6’5 quarterback to throw the ball down the field and extending plays was how Towles thrived at the University of Kentucky and making the Cardinals defense churning could lead to positive outcomes. Although Louisville has a lights out front seven, repeatedly hitting on the secondary could lead to bigger gains and allowing RB Jon Hilliman to work in open space.
Another dynamic playmaker for the Eagles to utilize is Jeff Smith III. Smith can be used in the deep threat or slot receiving along with trick plays (Smith was a quarterback last year on the depth chart behind Wade, Flutie). Tight end Tommy Sweeney also got in the action against the Wolfpack, as he racked up 5 receptions and a score to help guide the Eagles.
The defense has been spectacular throughout the season and I expect nothing short against arguably their hardest opponent yet. Creating space and utilizing Hilliman and Smith can lead to point opportunities.
Go Eagles!
