The Bearcats fell to 3-5, 1-2 in Big East play, thanks to a 31-7 ass kicking at the hands of the Syracuse Orange. Syracuse is 6-2, 3-1. The Orange had a 14 play, 80 yard drive that ended with a Van Chew TD catch. On the second play of the UC drive, Isaiah Pead fumbled a handoff. The Orange scored again when Adam Harris plowed towards the end zone, but fumbled, and had it recovered by Ryan Bartholomew for the score. The next UC play, DJ Woods had his fumbling problem rear it’s ugly head as he put one on the turf. Syracuse got a FG and made it 17-0. The Bearcats would score late in the quarter on a 33 yard pass to Woods. Cincinnati had a long drive to start the 3rd quarter, but Chazz Anderson was intercepted at the 3. Ryan Nassib passed to Antwon Bailey to make it 24-7.

Chazz Anderson wasn’t great in his first, and hopefully only, start of the season. He was 18-33148-1 TD-1 INT. I talked about how Isaiah Pead’s running would be a big part if UC was going to win. He had 11-23. On the flip side, Delone Carter had 19-109 for Syracuse. I made one correct prediction, Reuben Johnson got his first career interception.

Cincinnati has to go 3-1 to make a bowl. They play @ West Virginia and @ UConn, with home games against Rutgers and Pittsburgh. I’m not sure Cincinnati can pull it off. The first season of the Butch Jones era has been a disaster. I have tried to be positive all season, minus the first couple of weeks when I invoked the name of Kragthrope. In his first season, Louisville was coming off a BCS appearance, and had high expectations. They went .500. UC is coming off a BCS appearance, had higher expectations than this, and well, they are playing just like the NCAA ’11 sim that I ran in the preseason. It’s not all bad though. Butch Jones is not Kragthrope despite the evidence I unwittingly laid out. We have a week off to cool off/stop caring before the Bearcats travel to Morgantown. This picture kinda sums up the season, as it’s been turned upside down.
