The Cincinnati Bearcats are going to Memphis to play the Vanderbilt Commodores in the Liberty Bowl. The Bearcats finished the season 9-3, 5-2 in the Big East, finishing as co-Champions. Vanderbilt went 6-6, 2-6 in the SEC. Vandy was very competitve the last part of the season, taking Georgia, Arkansas, Florida and Tennessee to the limit. They blew out Wake Forest, Kentucky and Army during that time as well.
The game is on December 31, a Saturday, at 3:30 in Memphis. You can buy tickets here. The game will be televised on ABC.
After a year out of the bowl fiesta, it’s nice to be back. The Belk Bowl was going to avoid a rematch against NC State, and are already featuring Teddy Bridgewater in ads. Pittsburgh tried to get into the Beef O’Brady Bowl, but they are going to Birmingham for the BBVA Bowl against SMU. This was the next best thing. If anyone had to rank their desired opponents between the 3 opponents, Vandy would be first on every list. Plus, New Year’s Eve is awesome.
For some reason UC isn’t going official until 8:30, even though you can see it confirmed here, here, here, here, and here. That last here is this site. Cincinnati is in a bowl game. Should be fun.
