Bates has camped at Cincinnati several times over the past year and decided that staying home was what’s best for him. He is the first local commit for the Bearcats this year and second overall for Coach Tuberville joining Tyrell Gilbert from last years class. His commitment brings the total to seven commitments for the class of 2015. Last year, Bates had only 4 receptions for 36 yards and no touchdowns but he shared the field with Isaiah Gentry and Jacob Hausmann who were big time play-makers. This a good pickup for this years class since UC always seems to be in need of tight ends and it adds a legacy player to the team since his father, Doug Sr., played for the Bearcats in the 1980s. Some highlight film of Doug can be found here.
