Bearcats Interested in Andrew Rowsey

UNC-Asheville star guard Andrew Rowsey is transferring. Tom Groeschen has some info about the situation, which includes this tweet:

Rowsey scored over 1,000 points at Asheville in just two seasons. He’s a pretty damn solid three point shooter, hitting 187-478 for 39.1% for his career. Rowsey is a great foul shooter as well. Last season he hit 135 of 147, nearly 92%. One downside in his game would be his free falling two point percentage. Rowsey only hit 40%. The biggest flaw was his inability to finish at the rim, 41.2%. To compare to a Bearcat, Kevin Johnson was UC’s worst at 47%.

The traditional stats for Andrew Rowsey were 19.2 points, 2.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals while playing nearly 33 minutes a game. He’s listed at 5-10, 175 so he’s not a big guy, but there is a ton of durability and a lot of good in his game. Maybe not taking on such a scoring burden like he did last season would allow his numbers to stabilize back to his freshman year levels of 43% and 40.5% from the field and three respectively.

This would be a solid addition to the class. With Jordan Caroline, formerly of Southern Illinois, showing interest in Cincinnati, these would be two very solid additions. The class of 2015 doesn’t look like the best, see this tweet:

And UC is trying to add a JUCO:

Neither Rowsey nor Caroline would play this season per NCAA rules. The coaching staff is hustling to bring in some new blood. That much we know. Let the games begin.
