Bearcats Win Season Opener

luggage full and ready to travel

It was dog ass ugly, but Cincinnati put together a 52-37 victory over St Francis to open the season. The offense was horrendous. The Cats offensive efficiency was 86.1. The main problem were turnovers. The Cats turned the ball over on 28% of their possessions. It really threw a kink into things. The defense was great because St Francis is horrifically bad. Still, UC forced 21 turnovers and scored 18 points off of those.

Scoring wise, Octavius Ellis led the way with 13 on 5-8 shooting, 3-5 from the line. He had 8 rebounds, 2 assists to 4 turnovers, 3 steals and 2 blocks. He played well. Gary Clark was the second, and other, Cat in double figures with 10 points on 5-8 shooting. Clark had a couple of breakaway dunks. He had 6 rebounds, 4 offensive, 4 steals and an assist. Quadri Moore added 9 and Kevin Johnson 7.

This was only game one. There are over 30 of these left. It certainly wasn’t pretty but it was a win. Right now, that’s all that matters. Let’s do better on Wednesday night.
