Happy Memorial Day to all and we hope you are enjoying it, of course we also highly encourage you to take a moment or two and reflect on those who've sacrificed life, fame, fortune and so much more to keep us safe and free. To those currently serving a big Thank You as well. Your service does not go unrecognized around here.
In keeping with the celebration theme it's time to move on in our countdown to the start of Badgers football and today we're just 96 days…. errrrr, Beau Allen away from the opening kick-off to the 2013 season. Allen has become somewhat of a cult figure in certain Badger circles, so let us introduce you to why.
Story so far at Wisconsin:
– Has appeared in 41 career games, starting all 14 last season.
– Last season Allen had a career best 37 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss. He also had 2.5 sacks and 2 passes defensed. For his career Allen 74 tackles, 13 tfl's, and 6.5 sacks.
– Allen recorded a career best 6 tackles against Penn State to end the regular season last year.
– He was named a consensus Honorable Mention All-Big Ten and an Academic All-Big Ten team member in 2012.
History of No. 96 at Wisconsin:
John Favret: He was a four year starter at rush linebacker (1997-2000) and captain of the 200 team. He played in both the 1999 and 2000 Rose Bowls for UW. The guy played in 47 games throughout his 4 year career and 22 sacks as well. In my mind he's perhaps one of the most underrated players on that spectacular back-to-back Rose Bowl winning ride.
