Josh Beckett won his 18th game pitching for 7 innings, on seven hits, two runs, no walks, and eight strikeouts and Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon finished the rest of the game off in the 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.
Okajima pitched a perfect eighth inning with one strikeout and two groundouts for his 27th hold of the season and Papelbon picked up his 35th save of the season in 37 chances striking out two in the ninth inning while allowing a single to Melvin Mora in the inning.
Boston grabbed the lead early in the game scoring twice in the third inning with two outs.
