A year and a half after MLS Commissioner Don Garber announced that David Beckham was going to own an expansion franchise in Miami – after months of silence and speculation – it seems as though Beckham has overcome his biggest hurdle…securing a site for a stadium in Miami. News has broken this morning that talks of joining forces with the University of Miami on a joint stadium are no longer, and that Beckham’s group will build a privately funded stadium on the site of the Orange Bowl.

As of the writing of this article there has been no official word from either MLS offices or from the Miami MLS group.
