A hunter and a baker took a trip to Milwaukee…could be the start of a joke. But Torii Hunter and Scott Baker were no joke Saturday night, as the Twins took game two, 5-2.
Torii Hunter hit another home run…this time, a 2-run shot off Brewers’ starter Dave Bush, countering J.J. Hardy’s 14th homer of the season, a solo shot in the first. Bush only allowed one other run until the 8th, when two more came across on RBI singles by Justin Morneau and…Torii Hunter. Bill Hall tried to get a rally started with a solo home run in the 9th, but Joe Nathan was brought in to squash out all Brewers’ fans hopes. Twins’ starter Scott Baker only allowed the 2 ER over 8.33 IP, with 6 hits, 5 K’s and 0 BB’s.
Both Tony Graffanino and Craig Counsell got the start, as Graffy filled in for the ailing Rickie Weeks at second. Graffanino went 0-for-4, to lower his BA to .196…with the Brewers now having lost 6 of their last 7, Ryan Braun’s expected call up date of June 1 may have to be moved up.
Claudio Vargas starts Sunday for Milwaukee.
