Good day…for Torii Hunter. Bad night for Chris Capuano…well, for pretty much all of the Brewers.
The Brewers opened interleague play Friday night with their interleague rival, the Minnesota Twins, sporting the retro unis from their days in the AL. But neither the Brewers’ hitters (3 hits all night), nor pitching (Chris Capuano gave up 6 ER in 5.33 IP, including a grand slam to Torii Hunter, and Carlos Villanueva served up a 2-run dinger to former Brewer Jeff Cirillo), had anything working right, and the Crew lost game one to the Twins, 8-1.
The Brewers are now 26-16, still clinging onto first place, 5 games ahead of Houston in the loss column.
The Crew tries again tonight…Dave Bush (3-3, 5.47) squares off against Scott Baker (0-0, –), making his ’07 debut. Baker, however, made 16 starts for the Twins in ’06, going 5-8, with a 6.37 ERA, but with 62 K’s to just 16 BB’s.
