Ben Gordon Returns to the Old Country, Wants to Play for England in 2012

Here’s something I didn’t know 20 minutes ago: Pistons guard Ben Gordon was born in England. Gordon, who has basically zero shot at playing for the U.S.A. in the 2012 London Olympics, is trying to turn his 10-month stint as a British citizen into a spot on their Olympic basketball team.

“I don’t feel very British…[b]ut there are a lot of great memories. Just to participate in an Olympics is special enough, but to play it here in 2012, in the country I was born. It would be amazing to play against the U.S. And to beat them.”

I’m all for Little Ben wanting to play for the Big Bens, but if it comes down to a U.S.-England final, you know where my loyalties lie. Take it away, Jack.
