Ben Scrivens credits the Blues and the officials for OT loss

The St. Louis Blues were dominant for long stretches of their games against the Edmonton Oilers. The final shot tally after regulation was 37-15 in favor of the Blues. Though the Blues backed down and almost disappeared entirely during the second period, the overall effort was just enough to get the job done. Edmonton goaltender Ben Scrivens may have been the lone reason the Oilers picked up a point and he complemented the Blues and the officials for their loss.

As seen on Pro Hockey Talk, Scrivens says the Blues played a good team game. He also mentions that the officials had a good team game for the Blues as well.

“The referees and St. Louis, they both had good team games out there today.”

The Blues had three power play opportunities, but failed to capitalize. Meanwhile, the Oilers didn’t spend any time with the man advantage. There were definitely times where the officials could have called the Blues for a hold or interference, but the same could be said for the Oilers.

Perhaps Scrivens should be more concerned with the play of his defense. Scrivens had almost no help around his crease. It’s actually miraculous that the Blues weren’t leading by three or four after 20 minutes. The play of the Oilers’ defense, not the officials, is the reason the Blues walked away with two points.
