First off, I want to apologize for not having a Beyond the Box for Saturday’s game. Once the regular season kicks off and there are multiple ways to get a box score, it’ll all be good.
With that out of the way, how about that game last night? I hope you were able to see at least some of it, because it was a very nice production and the team looked great.
Wisconsin started with what I’m guessing will be the regular starting line-up. I could see Duje maybe sneaking a start here or there, but as we’ve seen on this trip, the Badgers will be guard heavy this year.
Overall, Wisconsin was able to take advantage of an undermanned and over-matched opponent, just as they should. Everyone on the roster got some good experience and the team moved to 3-1 on the trip with one game still left this afternoon. It’s been fun to see the team grow, even if it has been just a few games.
Now onto the box.
· First, check out the minutes played. As I mentioned above, everyone was able to get some good game time experience. Not one player played over 19 minutes or under 10 minutes. Bo was able to get a good look at who could fill in and be the 9th or 10th guy.
· The free throws were quite a bit better, especially in the first half. Free throws will win or lose at least a couple games come Big Ten season, so that percentage needs to stay high. We, as Badger fans, have been spoiled with great free-throw shooting in the past. That was not the case this past year, and it was quite frustrating.
· Zak Showalter had a nice game off the bench, and he is quite the playmaker as well. He won’t be a starter, but he will see some decent minutes off the bench as an energy guy. He makes things happen and is fun to watch.
· Obligatory Sam Dekker is good at basketball bullet point.
One more game left this afternoon against A-Game. Hopefully we’ll have a box to look at after.
