Bielema Takes Action, Markuson Out as O-Line Coach

Numbers don't lie and after two games the Badgers bread and butter running game was not up to standards, as a result it's being reported by multiple sources that offensive line coach Mike Markuson has been let go. The Badgers managed just 35 yards rushing as a team on Saturday in the loss to Oregon State.

That kind of production just doesn't cut it and clearly Bret Bielema wasn't about to let this bad start turn into a bad season. By letting Markuson go he's put the coaches and players on notice that mediocrity won't be accepted on this team.

When talking to the Badger offensive lineman this spring it was clear that they had trouble meshing with Markuson at first and that harsh transition clearly hurt the ability for this offensive line to gel.

According to those reports quality control assistant Bart Miller has replaced Markuson as the offensive line coach. Miller was an offensive lineman at New Mexico where he was coached by former Badgers O-Line coach Bob Bostad.

More on this will come as Bielema addresses the media during his Monday press conference, so stay tuned right here for a full report and updates as they come.
