Well people, we did it. We finally hit the point where the ridiculousness of conference expansion has boiled over into utter absurdity. The Big East has a BCS bid in football. That is the only reason that new schools are willing to join. And join they have. Brett McMurphy is reporting that the Big East will add Boise State, San Diego State, SMU, Houston and Central Florida for 2013 on Wednesday. They are also plans for Navy and Air Force to join. If Air Force doesn’t sign up, Temple may be added. I assume the last two would be football only. Boise St and San Diego State would be football only. The league is trying to make Syracuse, Pittsburgh and West Virginia hang around until 2014, but who the hell knows? The fact that Connecticut is going to have to travel cross country for a conference game at some point is ridiculous. But is it more ridiculous than everything that has happened? Probably. But it had to happen like this. Great job, greedy bitches who made this happen.
The last blog poll of the year is up next, he says in a completely awkward transition from actual news. Some teams got hammered for losing. I only dropped Oklahoma 5 spots to 15 which wasn’t enough. Georgia, Virginia Tech and Michigan State fall at least 6 spots. Southern Miss gets ranked over Houston because they kicked their ass. Wisconsin and Clemson take huge jumps up. I think I had Wisconsin underrated the past few weeks. Dropping out is Florida State. New is Western Kentucky. Why the hell did I rank Western Kentucky? For this reason. Bobby Rainey had an amazing career. They finished 7-5 this season, but didn’t make a bowl game. I figured I would give them a little love.
