Big Ten Bloggers Pick’Em, Week 8

After last week’s dismal prognostications (my worst week ever), I’m fading fast.  I need to start nailing every game I can, if I’m going to properly defend my 2007 title!

So let’s take a look at this week’s slate;

Purdue vs. Northwestern – In a week filled with good games in the Big Ten, this is….well, this is one of them.  Purdue is not as bad as their record indicates and Northwestern is not as good as their win-loss percentage claims they are.  The Purdue defense just looked down the barrel of two offenses with a LOT of talent and walked away surrendering only two TDs combined (the other points came all on special teams).  On the other hand, Northwestern doesn’t have the defense that OSU and PSU has, so maybe that stagnant Boiler offense can get cracking.

The BBC’s Pick – Purdue

Ohio State vs. Michigan State – The Buckeye defense has allowed only one player to rush for more than 76 yards against them this season (Joe McKnight – 105).  I suspect Javon Ringer will crack the 100-yard mark, but how many he gets after that will determine the outcome.  If Ohio State controls the line of scrimmage on defense and forces Hoyer to beat them, things will look good for the Buckeyes.  Considering their biggest strength is that D, I’m going with Ohio State.

Wisconsin vs. Iowa – Both teams have been in a massive funk this month, but the Hawkeyes arose from their slumber and crushed Indiana last weekend.  Wisconsin can’t get any lower than they are right now (well, they could if they had just lost to a MAC school at home).  I’m thinking the loser of this game might end up completely self-destructing throughout the remainder of the Big Ten season.  And I’m also thinking that team will be Iowa.  If Wisky fails in this game, the serious calls for Bret Bielema’s head will begin Sunday morning.

Michigan vs. Penn State – If there is any justice in this world, Joe Paterno will exorcise 9 years worth of demons on the field, and bury the Wolverines, leaving behind a smoldering crater on the Michigan sideline that smells like failure and cock.  Too much vulgar hatred?  OK, I’ll tone it down.
The BBC’s Pick – Penn State

Indiana vs. Illinois – One team got embarrassed last week.  So did the other.  The one with more talent will avenge themselves.
