Under coach Bill O’Brien, Penn State started a summer BBQ for recruits called Lasch Bash, named after the building it takes place in.
The day started off great as 4 star LB Cameron Brown committed in the morning, then right before dinner started at 5PM, 3 star LB/DE Shaka Toney also committed as well. Both are for 2016.
Penn State made big impressions on other top targets, for 2016 and 2017. The biggest was on 4 star WR Tre Nixon from Florida. Nixon is one of the speediest receivers in the 2016 cycle and he has been the top WR on Franklin’s recruiting board. Nixon liked Penn State before this weekend, and after it, it looks like the Lions are the team to beat. They currently hold 77% of Nixon’s crystal ball. Returning visitors included CB Damar Hamlin and ATH Jordan Fuller, both enjoyed their visit and Penn State did increase their chances after this weekend. 3 star LB Aaron Hansford was also on hand and was impressed.Almost all of the 2016 commits were on hand for the festivities and of course they were recruiting.
The lone 2017 commit, Sean Clifford was also on hand. The 4 star QB is doing his best to fill Shane Simmons shoes and be the leader of the 17′ class. 2017 targets that attended the weekend included offensive line men Josh Lugg and Robert Hainsey. Hainsey could commit soon although tonight he tweeted that he will be transferring to IMG Academy in Florida for high school. Linebacker David Adams was also there and said he loved the ribs, he liked the visit as well. Fellow linebacker Dylan Rivers was also there, both would be huge gets for PSU. Lamont Wade and Paris Ford were also present along with defensive linemen Donovan Jeter, Fred Hansard, and Josh Kaindoh, all are very high on Penn State.
