Bill Walton Likes Celtics More Than His Son

Via the LA Times:

“The three legitimate contenders in the East all got significantly
better, but Boston easily improved the most. The title will come down
to who controls the paint. The Celtics — with superior talent, depth
and versatility up front — have positioned themselves perfectly for a
run at No. 18.”

Tough to argue the genius that is Bill Walton. In that LA Times blog, Barry Stavro reminds us the Lakers (2-1) are the gamblers favorites, followed by the Cavs (10-3), Celtics (5-1) and Orlando (8-1).

For those thinking about making a futures bet, here’s some insight from D.S. Williamson of BetUS.com:

With apologies to L.A.,
Cleveland and Orlando, the Boston Celtics improved the most over the
off-season by signing Rasheed Wallace away from the Detroit Pistons.
‘Sheed, a primarily defensive player, joins a primarily defensive team.
With a healthy Kevin Garnett and an improving Rajon Rondo at the
point-guard position, the Celtics have the pieces in place to make
another run in the 2009-2010 season. Gamblers should be all over these
guys in the sportsbook at those odds.

BetUS.com has the Celtics at +425. I like the odds on the Spurs (+1400).

Around the league, the Grizzlies have made an offer to Allen Iverson.
