I’ve been tooting the horn that preseason doesn’t mean jack and we shouldn’t make a big deal about the negatives or positives of it, but after tonight’s game…ehh. Tonight was a debacle, terrible, & embarrassment. Buffalo held the ball just 8:14 of the first 30 minutes Saturday. The Bills were out gain, 209-50, in the first half, losing 17-0 to the Steelers. The third preseason game is suppose to be the dress rehearsal for the regular season, and the Bills looked as if they were dressed for Halloween, childish.
Coming into the preseason, I was hoping for T.O.’s impact on the team to be more along the lines of catching 70-75 passes for 10 touchdowns. I think the Bills are going to need a little bit more then that. Lee Evans seems to be non-existent so far in the preseason, and showed his frustration by not taking questions from reporters after the game. That’s how bad it gets when a WR is pouting for not getting the ball enough in a preason game.
Along with Evans uneven play, Trent Edwards is starting to get the deer in the head lights look. He doesn’t look down field ever, and is content when the rush comes on to just dump it off to his backs. Edwards is playing the exact way Dick Jauron coaches, conservative. Being conservative as a QB, only works if you have other strong components for the team (strong defense and running game). The Bills don’t really have either, and unless Edwards breaks through, it’s going to be a long season.
