As a head coach for a minor league affilitate, it has to be somewhat of a bittersweet feeling to help graduate so many prospects to the NHL, with Pageau the latest to look great in his debut.
On one hand, there has to be some personal gratification knowing that you had some hand in the development of the 14 rookies who have dressed for a game with the Ottawa Senators this season.
On the other, thanks to absurd number of injuries that have befallen many of Ottawa’s best players has created a steady movement of players between the parent organization and its affiliate. With so many of his best players being recalled to fill the ranks in Ottawa, one would not have blamed for Richardson for being a bit disappointed to see the talent level of his team diminish. But to his and his players’ credit, they have managed to stay competitive.
So it must be a foreign feeling for Luke Richardson as his roster is supplemented with CHL-products whose junior careers are now over.
Jakub Culek joined the B-Sens on March 27th after his season with Cape Breton came to an end. And this week, first rounders Matt Puempel and Cody Ceci will assuredly join the team now that their respective junior teams have been eliminated from the OHL playoffs.
The B-Sens do not play again until they play three games in three days starting this Friday versus Manchester, so that gives Puempel and Ceci an extra few days to get settled in Binghamton.
Ottawa @ Boston Make Up Date?
Due to the heinous nature of yesterday's events in Boston, the Senators/Bruins game was appropriately postponed to a later date.
Listening to what should have been the pre-game show yesterday afternoon on the Team1200, I heard some thoughts that this game may not even take place given a) how compacted the schedule already is, and b) how the playoffs will commence on April 30th, and c) how the TD Banknorth Arena Garden may have availability issues because of potential Boston Celtics playoff dates and/or concerts.
So long as the two points from this prospective game have dynamic consequences for either team, given the tight nature of the scheduling involved, I don't think there's any question that the game will have to be played. But when can it take place?
In looking at each team's remaining schedule, both teams play on April 25th, and wrap up their seasons on April 27th. Given the circumstances, it seems plausible that the two teams could conceivably play on April 28th or 29th.

– Yesterday the Edmonton Oilers announced it had fired GM Steve Tambellini and replaced him with former head coach Craig MacTavish. The highlight of the press conference for me was watching President of Hockey Operations Kevin Lowe squirm and get defensive to the media’s line of questioning. Times like these make me thankful that the Senators organization is far removed from the acceptance of mediocrity
– Craig Anderson was supposed to get the nod in nets versus the Bruins last night, but with yesterday's horrific tragedy and the cancellation of the game, I am assuming he will get the start tonight against Carolina.
