UPDATED: Bishop Injury, Desjardins Recalled And Olympic Roster News

8

BBishopGoalie Ben Bishop‘s injury will keep him out of tomorrow’s game against the Winnipeg Jets. The Bolts have recalled goalie Cedrick Desjardins from the Syracuse Crunch to be Anders Lindback‘s backup.

Apparently Bishop was originally hurt in warm ups yesterday when he was hit by a shot and aggravated the injury when his stick got caught on forward Tyler Johnson‘s leg early in the game against the Oilers last night.

Big Ben is officially listed as day-to-day and the injury is not considered serious at this time. He is having trouble gripping his stick and will undergo more testing.

Bishop also received confirmation that he’ll be at the Olympics if one of the three Team USA goalies is injured.

In other Bolts news, Coach Jon Cooper said Valtteri Filppula and J. T. Brown were slightly dinged last night and both could play against the Jets, but that Brown is more questionable with a right shoulder injury.

Olympic Update:

Syracuse Crunch goalie Kristers Gudlevskis was named to the Latvian Olympic team.

Richard Panik will play for Slovakia in Sochi and Valtteri Filppula and Sami Salo will skate for Team Finland.

It is stunning that the Bolts Victor Hedman was not named to Team Sweden. Number 77 has much better statistics compared to some of the defensemen that made the team.  Hedman’s numbers:  36 games, 22 points,+5. Henrik Tallinder‘s numbers:  34 games, 6 points, -12. Johnny Oduya‘s numbers:  45 games, 10 points, +3. Jonathan Ericsson‘s numbers:  29 games, 8 points, +9. This is an epic snub.

Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos  was selected to play for  GM Steve Yzerman and Team Canada. Martin St. Louis was not.
