Bizarre Win For Wake Over BC

One of the most unusual games happened this past Saturday afternoon as Wake Forest defeated Boston College 3-0 at Chestnut Hill. You heard me, 3-0! This is the second game in a row where it came down to single digit points to get the win but this one was very low. The third quarter was when kicker Mike Weaver nailed the 25 yd FG to essentially seal the win for the entire game.

Boston College was penalized quite a bit to where it took away the momentum. Keeping Wake Forest down to 3 points isn’t a huge accomplishment since they are Wake Forest but for Wake, who kept in 8 of Florida State, is not the worst team ever.

Both teams combined for 18 punts throughout the entire game and it did show the ugly for both teams. A stingy game but this was a rare occurrence in itself.

Boston College had the running game going but 3rd down conversions and turnovers killed them ultimately. Passing was tough on the outside for Flutie and Smith as the top target was WR Charles Callinan who had 2 receptions for a grand total of 42 yards. Marcus Outlow carried the ball 15 times gaining 62 yards which was the team high. Wake Forest wasn’t far off either as the top target was Cortez Lewis who had 5 catches for 65 yards while RB Matt Colburn carried the ball 12 times and a grand total of 38 yards.
