Charlie Morton hasn’t pitched very well since being re-promoted to the rotation from Indianapolis, but in his last two starts he’s at least managed to not give up boatloads of runs. That’s coincided with the disappearance of the “I’d rather set my hair on fire with a Bunsen burner than be here on this mound throwing a baseball” look that he more or less patented in April and May this year.
I’m probably being greedy now, but what I’d really like to see is just one Charlie Morton start that helps me (and everyone) remember why we had such high hopes for him in 2010. What I’m saying is, I want to see the electric stuff one more time. Just so I know it was even there to begin with. Hopefully the potential rain won’t be too bad. We all know what happens when you mix water and electricity (It kind of looks like Charlie Morton’s ERA, BA-ZING!).
First pitch is 7:05, Clemente/Cangelosi update is after the jump.
Only a couple people really vociferously spoke up for keeping Clemente/Cangelosi going for the last 11 games and with only a couple predictions coming in for each game I’m going to draw the curtain on it for 2010. It’s honestly just too much work right now to have it updated in a timely fashion with all of the spam problems that we’re currently having. I’ll get the final scores for the second half updated sometime this week, hopefully. I really thought it was a lot of fun and appreciate everyone that participated (which if you add up the first and second half, was a pretty good number of people). If you’ve got suggestions for how to improve it, I’d love to see them in the comments now or in an e-mail over the off-season, because I am planning on bringing it back for the 2011 season and will probably tweak things just a bit to make them more interesting.
As always, thanks. Writing a blog like this is impossible without participation from the comments, and I think that Clemente/Cangelosi was a good way to get people involved. I’ve been assured that we’ll definitely have a new and improved comments system rocking for the 2011 season, which will make things easier for me and is going to help both Clemente/Cangelosi and the gamethreads exponentially.
