Spurs forward DeJuan Blair had been in serious talks all week about playing in Russia during the lockout, and according to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Blair could be picking up an English to Russian dictionary soon.
Blair’s agent, Happy Walters, has made it official that Blair will be signing with Krasnye Krylya Samara and joining the team during the 2011-12 season.
Blair, who averaged 8.3 points and seven rebounds per game last season with the Spurs, will be joining Joe Alexander and Jarvis Hayes on the roster of Krasnye Krylya.
Blair was motivated to sign so he can play meaningful minutes and stay in shape. He’s also taken out an insurance policy to protect against injury.
Blair’s contract includes an out clause to return to the Spurs when the lockout ends.
