Bloguin Heisman Poll: Final ballot

Bloguin Heisman Poll: Final ballot

The final week for the Heisman voting has come and gone. In my first year of Heisman prognostication, I’m pretty sure I am going to hit the nail on the head in predicting the winner. Thank you Cam Newton. For all the allegations of cheating and stealing and what not, Cam was the best athlete on the field this season. What really surprised me is Cam Newtons’s throwing ability. He was an incredibly accurate passer and to go along with his rushing skills. Newton looked like a Heisman winner all season, which makes this trophy pretty easy to predict.

How the poll works: The Bloguin Heisman Poll is an open collaboration of many dedicated bloggers here at the Bloguin Network that love college football. Each week, bloggers from across the country will send in their votes for their top 3 Heisman candidates (3 pts for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd). The votes for the Heisman will be posted every week and you will be able to see the current leasers at fellow Bloguin member site, RandallSimonsSausages.com

Newton1.Cameron Newton, QB, Auburn. The only real question left for the Hesiman trophy committee is wether to put Cameron or just Cam Newton on the trophy this year. Many people believed that Newton would struggle going against a team that he had already faced but that wasn’t the case. Newton was fantastic this week, going 12-28 for 335 yards and 4 TD passes along with 14 carries for 73 yards and 2 more scores. The incredible stat with Cam Newton isn’t the fact that he is 15th in the nation in rushing from the quarterback position, or that he leads the nation in total points scored at 294, but the fact that passed Kellen Moore in passer efficiency rating of 188.16, which sets the single season NCAA record for quarterbacks. This kid, truly did it all this year.

James2. LaMichael James, RB, Oregon. LaMichael James did all he could do this past weekend to help him win the trophy. He rushed the ball 28 times for 134 yards and 2 scores. James finishes the year on a team ranked #2 in the nation, he is the nations leading rusher with 152.91 yards a game, and leads the nation in scoring with 12 points a game. Unfortunately for James, the only way he could take the trophy from Cam Newton’s hands was if the NCAA helped him.

Kellen3. Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State. Kellen Moore and the one loss Broncos won an easy ballgame this past weekend 50-14 against Utah State. Moore was 24-34 for 237 yards and 3 TD’s. He also rushed for a TD. Moore had his worst game in terms of efficiency since the first game of the year against Virginia Tech. His rating this weekend was 158.26 which dropped his season rating to 185.04. This was the last thing he had to hang his hat on for any chance of winning the Heisman trophy. He was on pace to break the single season record for passer efficiency held by Colt Brennan, but after this weekend, Cam Newton broke it.
