The Blue Jays claimed Wilfredo Ledezma on waivers, Jen Langosch reports today, which means the Pirates won’t be able to bring him back for the 2011 season. Like I said when it happened, the decision to drop him for Aaron Thompson was pretty surprising to me and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Ledezma have a good year with the Blue Jays or wherever he ultimately ends up in 2011.
This means that the Pirates officially have zero lefties for the bullpen right now (unless you count Scott Olsen). I’m pretty sure that this is ultimately pointing towards Brian Fuentes signing with the Pirates, but we’d probably have to promise him a shot at the closer’s gig to make that happen.
