Preseason NHL hockey is coming to Kansas City prior to the 2016-17 season. The St. Louis Blues and the Washington Capitals will skate in an exhibition on October 5th at the Sprint Center.
The matchup will feature two of the top teams in hockey and will give hockey fans in Kansas City an opportunity to catch some live action prior to the start of the 2016-17 season.
The NHL has routinely used the preseason as an opportunity to show off hockey in markets without franchises and that appears to be the case with this announcement. Kansas City isn’t considered an option for expansion at any point in the near future, but the NHL may be using this preseason contest as a way of gathering data in case that conversation ever develops down the road.
Tickets are expected to go on sale on May 3rd.
