It’s Ty Rattie time! The St. Louis Blues have called on their best prospect as they take on the Dallas Stars on Friday night. With numerous forwards injured (David Backes, T.J. Oshie, Vladimir Sobotka, Vladimir Tarasenko, Derek Roy and Brenden Morrow), the Blues brought up Adam Cracknell, Keith Aucoin and the previously mentioned Rattie.
The list of injured skates is a depressing one. An extremely depressing one. As the Blues continue their slow, ugly crawl to the end of the regular season, things are looking grim. It took some special news – some Ty Rattie news – to brighten the day.
Rattie is a special talent. That doesn’t mean he’ll come in and be a huge NHL success right away, but it does mean that he has the tools to be a memorable forward after adjusting to the speed of the NHL.
In 69 games with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, Rattie has 29 goals and 17 assists for a total of 46 points. He’s been a dynamic forward, scoring critical late goals for the Wolves. The Blues have to hope that with so much offensive talent sidelined that Rattie can help provide an immediate spark.
