There’s success in your own building and then there’s the current run the St. Louis Blues are enjoying. The Blues have picked up points in each of their last 12 games at the Scottrade Center over a stretch which has lasted for well over a month.
The Blues last failed to earn a point at home when they hosted the Calgary Flames on October 25th. Since then, the Blues have gone 9-0-3 over their past 12 games on home ice. That’s 21 points of a possible 24 in front of the home crowd.
On the year, the Blues are now 11-1-3 at home. By comparison, things aren’t as pretty away from Scottrade as the road record is just 3-6-1.
While that point streak is really, really impressive, the story isn’t perfect. Unfortunately, the Blues have given up several points to foes within the division which may come back to haunt them later in the season. During the streak, multiple opponents have scored late (Minnesota Wild and Dallas Stars most recently) to force overtime. The Blues picked up the win on both occasions, but they also gave away a point when they were within a minute or two of a regulation win.
Don’t discredit what the Blues have accomplished at home, but take note that the team is still giving up their fair share of points to important teams.
