Here’s a puzzling one. The St. Louis Blues have invited Paul Bissonette to training camp on a tryout. The tough forward was reportedly weighing his options between teams and as many as “five to six” teams were supposedly interested in him back in August. That brings us to the question – Why did the Blues, a team that’s loaded with forward depth, invite Biz to camp?
Biz is probably more well known for his social media account than his play on the ice. That’s not to say he’s a bad player (his fancy stats are actually better than the stereotypical enforcer image he carries), but his Twitter account has had some real gems. Maybe the Blues are looking to move Biz into a social media role? Aside from that, this tryout doesn’t make much sense.
You can make the argument that Biz may be capable of playing on the third line, but that doesn’t change the fact the Blues have a ton of names competing for a handful of spots on the team’s third and fourth line. It’s doubtful Biz is interested in an AHL spot, but that seems to be the only place the Blues would have room for him.
