The 2014-15 season will only be a success for the St. Louis Blues depending on how deep they make it into the playoffs, but it’s clear that in terms of television ratings the year was already a big winner. Fox Sports Midwest announced that the Blues set several ratings record over the course of the regular season, including the fact this year was the highest-rated season ever on Fox Sports Midwest.
The Blues averaged a 4.9 household rating, beating last season’s numbers by 22%. Via the press release, Blues hockey in prime time is No. 1 in St. Louis vs. the average prime time rating of all other channels during hockey season among adults 25-54.
April 7th’s game against the Winnipeg Jets – the one which was nearly bumped to Fox Sports Midwest Plus – was the highest-rated regular season game in Fox Sports Midwest history, bringing in an 8.4 rating.
The current agreement between the Blues and Fox Sports Midwest runs until 2018 and it looks like the Blues should be able to negotiate a better contract due to these huge numbers.
