Bob and Chip’s Week 1 NFL Picks Against the Spread

As we did last year, Chip and I will be bringing you our weekly NFL picks (against the spread).  Last year I had a winning percentage of like .900, give or take a few percentage points, so I guarantee you these are worth trusting. Maybe after I win you lots of money in the NFL, you’ll want to take me to the blackjack tables.

Anyway, some weeks we’ll post the picks and let them speak for themselves and other weeks Chip and/or I will have some analysis on why we chose the way we did.  This week, I’ll provide a little analysis and Chip is letting his picks speak for themselves.

Here are my picks highlighted in yellow:

Detroit covers4lyfe.  I will always have Detroit covering the spread, unless they are favored, but let’s get real, so if there is one pick you shouldn’t take too seriously week by week, it’s the Lions’ pick.  That’s because I’m a stupid, superstitious homer.

Minnesota will probably cover and beat up on the lowly Browns, ruining their home opener in Cleveland.  Yes, I have the Vikings winning despite Brett Favre’s two interceptions and continuous in-game sexting with ESPN about how he feels.

I was teetering on the edge with the Chicago/Packers game.  Green Bay probably wins with it being in Green Bay, but I wanted to get crazy (plus I hate Green Bay).

My game of the week pick may not be that bold considering it’s on Monday night, but might surprise a few: Buffalo at New England.  As you all know, TO makes his regular season debut with the Bills, but it comes against the worst possible opponent (Tom Brady’s first regular season game back from injury BTW), on the road.  I don’t think Buffalo will necessarily win this game, but I do think they will keep it tight.  I actually want to guess that it’ll down to a final possession, but Buffalo fails.

Detroit and KC are the biggest underdogs this week, but I actually think the 49ers are going to lose by the most points.  They play at Arizona and, let’s get real, Shaun Hill is the QB for the 49ers.  Bet on it like Zac Efron said.

And for those of you who think I’m an absolute moron, and want a second opinion, here are Chip’s Week 1 picks:
