Bob, Chip, and Dupree’s Week 2 NFL Picks Against the Spread

Last week was one of the worst week’s in pick ’em history for D4L.  I finished 4-12 and Chip finished 5-11.  I will say, though, that I was dead on with the Bills/Patriots game.  I said that the Bills would keep it tight (which they did, obviously) and that it would come down to the final possession (it did).  I said ultimately, the Bills would fail and, sure enough, they did (in the worst of ways). I’ll chalk last week up as a moral victory (meh).

This week we have a lot of tough, close odds from Vegas and it could wind up being another tough week for the D4L projection’s crew. We’ve studied the games a lot more carefully this week and expect to rebound like we’re Ben Wallace in his prime.

Without further ado, here are my picks for Week 2:

Like last week, I stupidly picked the Lions to cover.  I don’t think it’s that stupid, though.  It’s 10 points in their home opener, which they just sold out (despite an 0-16 season last year).  They might be the worst team in the NFL, but I think the Lions will play inspired for the first time in years and keep it close, if not win.

I think the game of the week will be Sunday afternoon’s Bears/Steelers game.  Steelers are favored by three points, but I think the Bears are going to cover & win in their home opener.  Jay Cutler sugar levels will bounce back and he’ll lead the Bears to their first victory in his era.  Count on it.

I see Green Bay going off on the Bengals this week.  That’s all.

If you hate my picks and want something different, sort of, here are Chip’s:

And deciding to join us from now on is the forever elusive, Dupree.  Here are HIS picks.
