Bob Costas Tried To Liven Up A Game And It Didn’t Go Well

Here’s what he said:

That’s a burn. 3rd degree.

And Costas has already apologized to Pedro Strop after everyone seemed to be offended.

One of the Internet’s favorite go-to’s is ripping on whatever national announcer is calling whatever game is being aired. It’s a mild miracle that Joe Buck is even able to smile, let alone show his face in public.

I just typed in ‘this announcer sucks‘ on Twitter. Click that link. You get the idea.

If I’m a Cubs fan, I’m not happy with Costas. After all, it’s a June baseball game, not the NLCS. But we also can’t sit here and wish that announcers had more personality and then throw our arms up in disbelief when one of them throws a little shade.

Either we want milquetoast or we want personality. But if we get personality, just know that sometimes that personality is going to conflict with our particular fandom.

Personally, I like mixing it up a little. And understand that eventually my team is going to be the on the wrong end of the joke (or, in this case, burn).

I guess not everyone feels the same way.
