In an effort to drum up interest for what’s inevitably shaping up to be a mundane NHL Trade Deadline day, the TSN Panel used a pre-emptive Trade Center to drum up interest in the February 27th event and dissect what teams may (but probably won’t) do.
According to Bob McKenzie, the Ottawa Senators have an interest in acquiring a top six forward and of their available assets (and I use the term assets liberally), they may use Filip Kuba, Bobby Butler, Brian Lee and Patrick Wiercioch as trade bait.
As farfetched as it seems that some non-playoff team would entertain the idea of acquiring an unrestricted free agent, two meh depth players and a project defenceman who has had an inconsistent and injury plagued season in the AHL, I’m reminded of what John Muckler acquired for Martin Havlat.
(Elbows on my window sill looking out at the sky)
Maybe there’s another Muckler-like sucker out there…
