Chris Paul gets traded to the Houston Rockets, the New York Knicks part ways with Phil Jackson and reportedly, Bogdan Bogdanovic is set to sign a three-year contract worth $36 million, according to the Sacramento Bee. Even though free agency is not officially here, it already feels like basketball heaven.
Originally, Sportando.com had reported that Bogdanovic had agreed to a three-year contract that was worth $30 million. It doesn’t really matter because this was written on the wall for Bogdanovic to arrive in Sacramento this upcoming season, especially after all the success he went through the last two months.
He accomplished a dream of his, which was winning the Euroleague championship and was MVP of the Turkish League. Now it’s time to accomplish more in the best league in the world, the NBA. He averaged 14.6 points on 50 percent shooting last season for Fenerbahce and 43 percent came from beyond the arc.
Saturday, July 1, at 12:01 a.m. ET begins what’s called the NBA moratorium period. In that time, no one can actually “sign” players, but teams can come to agreements on deals and offer sheets. Bogdanovic can sign the deal on July 6, when the moratorium ends.
Bogdanovic will join a very young nucleus that consists of De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Malachi Richardson, Justin Jackson, Skal Labissiere, Harry Giles, Georgios Papagiannis and Willie Cauley-Stein.
The Kings fanbase is very excited right now and they have plenty of reasons to be. Vlade Divac and his staff have changed the perception of the organization with this draft class. Adding Scott Perry was an amazing move and a much-needed one for Divac. It certainly has paid off already and the best is yet to come according to Divac.
I’ve been told that Bogdanovic will most likely not play in Summer League, which is no surprise due to his last 4 months of consistent basketball action. Regardless, the Kings will have a great opportunity to win the Summer League championship and Cowbell Kingdom will be in Las Vegas providing you with frontline coverage.
What will the Kings do next in free agency? The Kings will show interest in Paul Millsap according to multiple reports, but as I’ve said since the season ended, I would throw max-money at Otto Porter Jr., who just turned 24-years-old.
